SAVE THE DATE – Final Seminar of the EMISSHIP project

Aiming to disseminate and discuss the project's main results, EMISSHIP team is organising a seminar on June 21st, 2022. Detailed information about the programme, how to participate and registration will be available soon.

EMISSHIP will be in a conference in Greece

PhD student Rafael Nunes will present a poster communication entitled "Health and economic burden of ship-related PM2.5 in Portuguese port cities" on the 13th International Conference on Air Quality - Science and Application, that will occur in Thessaloniki, Greece, from June 27th to July 1st, 2022.

SENSINAIR at 50th LEPABE Talks

EMISSHIP PI Fernando Martins was the invited speaker at the 50th LEPABE Talks, on May 5th, 2022. In the communication entitled “The Digitalization and The Chemical Engineering: A Few Thoughts” he spoke about the modelling work used to estimate shipping emissions and ship-related emissions air quality and health impacts, including examples of the work that has been developed in the EMISSHIP project.

EMISSHIP at the Air Pollution 2021

Rafael Nunes participated in the 29th International Conference on Modelling, Monitoring and Management of Air Pollution (Air Pollution 2021), online. Rafael presented the oral communication: “Local health impacts of PM2.5 and NO2 ship-related air pollution in Matosinhos municipality”.

EMISSHP in the Doctoral Congress Engineering 2021

PhD student Rafael Nunes participated in the 4th Doctoral Congress Engineering (June 28th-29th , 2021), with an oral containing EMISSHIP results, entitled “Seasonal health impacts of PM2.5 ship-related air pollution in Portugal”.

EMISSHIP at LEPABE Talks

Rafael Nunes, EMISSHIP PhD student, was the invited speaker at LEPABE Talks, on October 26th, 2020, with a presentation entitled: “Shipping emissions modelling - revealing a black secret of the sea”. The researcher talked about the topic of shipping emissions and its impacts on air quality and health, showing methodologies and some results of his ongoing PhD and EMISSHIP project.

EMISSHIP present at 12th International Conference on Air Quality – Science and Application

Rafael Nunes presented results from the EMISSHIP project at the 12th International Conference on Air Quality – Science and Application “Health Impacts of NO2 Ship-related Air Pollution in The Iberian Peninsula", moved for the online version (due to the COVID-19 restrictions) and took place in May 18st-26rd.

EMISSHIP present at WeBIOPATR 2019 Workshop and Conference

Rafael Nunes presented results from the EMISSHIP project at the 7th International WeBIOPATR Workshop and Conference “Impacts on Air Quality of PM Ship-related emissions in Portugal”, that took place in October 1st-3rd, in Belgrade, Serbia.

EMISSHIP present at Shipping & the Environment II Conference

With a presentation entitled "Cause-specific mortality from shipping-related PM2.5 in the Iberian Peninsula", Rafael Nunes participated in the International conference Shipping & the Environment II From Regional to Global Perspectives.
This event took place at Gothenburg, from 4th a 6th September 2019.

Rafael Nunes was awarded a PhD scholarship from FCT

In the scope of EMISSHIP, and with a workplan entitled “Towards reducing atmospheric emissions from shipping – Forecasting and assessing human health impact”, the candidate Rafael Nunes was awarded a 4-years PhD schoolarship in the FCT Call for PhD Research Studentships.

EMISSHIP present at Air Pollution 2019​

During the "Air Pollution 2019 - 27th International Conference on Modelling, Monitoring and Management of Air Pollution", Rafael Nunes presented an oral communication entitled "Health impacts of Ozone ship-related air pollution in Portugal".
This conference took place at University of Aveiro, Portugal, from 26th to 28th June 2019.​

EMISSHIP Kick-off meeting

The EMISSHIP project kick-off meeting took place on-line on September 13th 2018 and it was attended by the entire team and the project consultant. General aspects of the project and the next steps to be taken were discussed.
